Last spring, Rocky Mountain Power said that it planned to retire its last two coal-fired plants in Utah by 2032. But in an update this week, the state’s largest electricity producer now looks to burn coal for a decade longer.

A bill that some clean energy advocates fear could deter rooftop solar purchases but supporters say protects consumers was heard in a legislative committee on Tuesday.

Measure aims to be better protect unwitting customers who are solicited by solar companies. The bill mandates a seven-day grace period in which a customer can revoke a contract to purchase and requires companies to disclose the uncertainty in actual energy savings.
