CITY OF THOMPSON TAX EQUALIZATION MEETING APRIL 4, 2022 7:00 PM The Tax Equalization meeting of the City of Thompson, County of Grand Forks, North Dakota, was held April 4, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Mayor Larimer, Council members Bergeron, Hughes, Fretheim, Wojciechowski, City Administrator, Plant Services and Public Works were present. City Auditor and Chief of Police (COP) were absent. Mayor Larimer called the Tax Equalization meeting to order at 7:00 PM. He turned the floor over to Grand Forks County Assistant Tax Director Shellie Smette. Assistant Director Smette reported there was no across the board increase for residential lots and structures. The county now has appropriate software that allows them to adjust home values on an individual basis. Agricultural land had no change. Commercial Lot values increased by $48,600, Commercial Structures decreased by $254,900. Residential Lots and Structures increased by $3,946,000. Speaker Lord Allan Velasco made the call after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11696, or the Marawi Siege Compensation Act of 2022, which aims to provide monetary aid to victims of the 2017 Marawi siege. Velasco said the newly-signed law is a priority legislation of the 18th Congress designed to help Marawi residents rebuild their lives and pave the way for the city's full recovery. "We see this legislation as one of the important legacies of the Duterte presidency and the 18th Congress.
