Dec 12, 2020 THE number of free nursery hours will rise next year, if funding is approved in next week's Government Plan debate. Senator Tracey Vallois Education Minister Tracey Vallois has announced plans to extend the 20 hours a week of funded nursery education to 30 hours from September. The free hours are available for 38 weeks a year to children in the school year in which they turn four. They can be claimed at any States primary school nursery as well as registered private nurseries. The extra hours of free provision was a recommendation from the Early Years Policy Development Board.
