KGO ABC World News Tonight With David Muir July 10, 2024

Jeopardy. Israel bombs gaza days after a new government takes shape. What led to this latest flareup of violence. Welcome to the lead. Im pamela brown in for jake tapper, and we begin today with our world lead, and this historic highstakes summit president President Joe Biden and russian president vladimir putin. The summit lasted roughly three hours with both leaders describing it as constructive and positive. They said there were no threats or ultimatums, and putin called biden balanced, professional and experienced. I did what i came to do. The tone of the entire meetings, i guess it was a total of four hours, was what was was good, positive. There wasnt any any strident action taken. Where we disagreed, disagreed, stated where it was and where he disagreed it was stated but it was not done in a hyperbolic atmosphere. Translator the meeting was actually very efficient. It was substantive. It was specific. And it was aimed at achieving results. One of those results, axes from the u. ....

All in starts right now. Good evening from new york. Im chris hayes. It was a big day for the future of american democracy. We will get to that significant action in a moment, but before we do, just give me a second to go back to the context of what happened in the last election. I think it has been obscured by the sabotage and disinformation and violent insurrection unlike anything weve seen in the history of the country stoked by the former president. Remember this, last november, right, once in a cent ray pandemic, we got a glimpse of what a full or fuller participation version of our democracy would look like because due to the pandemic, state after state, jurisdiction after jurisdiction, and i should note this is both democratic and republican there were fights over this. But across the board, more or less on the whole in the aggregate, all these places did something praise worthy and novel. They took steps to make it easier to vote. They did this by expanding eligibility for mail ....

Aggregate, all these places did something praiseworthy and novel. They took steps to make it easier to vote. They did this by expanding eligibility for mailin voting and early voting and adding drop boxes for ballots right . Theres Public Health concern. You dont want everyone crowding in on election day so people found ways to just make it easier to vote so you wouldnt have that. And the results are clear. It worked. Turnout was the highest it had been in 120 years. Nearly 67 of eligible voters cast a ballot. And also there was no uniform drubbing of one party by the other. It was not a blowout. It was a competitive election. Yes, joe biden won by a healthy margin. 7 million votes. 70 plus Electoral College votes. But remember republicans gained seats in the house. They want some key senate rates right . Now rather than looking at that outcome and thinking wow, we can be a Competitive Party even in high turnout elections which would have been a totally rational conclusion. Republican ....

MSNBC Andrea Mitchell Reports July 10, 2024

Opinion writer at the boston globe. Welcome both. Garrett, hit both big issues. Where are we with the latest on Infrastructure Talks and what are the realistic options on democrats on Voting Rights. Ill do the Voting Rights bill because it is short. There are no realistic options to move that bill through the United States senate. 50 republican votes opposed and even the usual moderate republican senators who side with democrats and other key issues like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins spoke out against this bill yesterday. Republicans say its a federal takeover of elections and they dont like the changes that it makes at a federal level and things like voter i. D. Laws and the fcc, you name it. Theyre not for it unless democrats can find votes to get rid of the filibuster which we talked about ad nauseam and know they do not presently have, that bill goes nowhere. On infrastructure its a different story although with a similar refrain. The challenge there remains what it has always b ....
