GoLocalProv | ALCU of RI Joins Conservative Groups in U.S. Supreme Court Brief in "Major" Search and Seizure Case

The ALCU has filed a brief -- along with conservative advocacy groups -- in the U.S. Supreme Court. The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island announced Monday that it has filed a “friend of the court” brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in a case that they say "raises significant issues concerning the scope of Fourth Amendment protections and police warrantless searches of the home." The brief argues that an unfavorable ruling in the case could “give police free rein to enter the home without probable cause or a warrant, whenever they think it is ‘reasonable’ to do so.”
