There are strong reasons why the universal Church never admitted women to liturgical public service, not even in the lower grades of lector or acolyte.

The principle of Divine law in the liturgy
Regarding the nature of the sacred liturgy, that is, of Divine worship, God himself has spoken to us in His Holy Word, and the Church has explained it in her solemn Magisterium.
