Lansing has more than its share of abandoned legacy buildings, from empty schools to old factories and cavernous K-Marts, but the 1924 Masonic Temple building at 217 S. Capitol Ave. downtown is in a class by itself.
The former Masonic Temple at 217 S. Capitol Ave. has been out of use since 2008, but it may soon be the site of Lansing’s new City Hall.
The city is looking to adopt a new tax abatement ordinance, which could help attract new construction and renovations in certain areas of town.
Lansing-based Boji Group bought the former Masonic Temple building from WMU-Cooley Law School in a deal that closed July 30.
