Foreman Medals in Long Jump, Tigers Impress in Second Day of ACC Indoor Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - The Clemson Tigers shined in the second day of the ACC Indoor Championships as ten athletes secured their places in Saturday's finals and Shantae Foreman received the silver medal in the women's long jump. Foreman becomes the second Tiger to earn a silver medal for Clemson. Along with the medal and the second place finish, Foreman was also crowned First Team All-ACC as she becomes the second Tiger to earn the honor. Four athletes have earned All-ACC honors so far this week as Daniel Cope was named First Team while Marie Forbes and Nia Christie were tabbed Second Team All-ACC. Women Finish Second, Men Third, in Upstate Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers men’s and women’s cross country teams opened the 2023 slate at the Upstate Eye Opener in Spartanburg on Friday afternoon with the women taking second 5k and the men finishing third 8k. Freshman Gladys Chepngetich placed second overall for the women while sophomore, Victor Ndiwa placed second overall on the men’s side. “I feel like this was by far our best season opener for both men’s and women’s teams. I’m looking forward to what the season has in store,” Head Coach Vicky Pounds said. On the women’s side, the Tigers finished with a final score of 58, and final total of 1:29:11 to help them secure second place in the 5k. Chepngetich started her Clemson career with a finishing time of 17:11.20. PHILADELPHIA  The Clemson track and field program had two athletes make their way into the school record book on Thursday at Penn Relays. Brynne Sumner and Maddie Dinneen both set impressive personal bests on their way onto top-10 lists. While only a few Tigers competed on the opening day of the relays, most of the team will make their meet debut on Friday. Action begins at 11:55 a.m. with the women's distance medley relay, and will run through 6:25 p.m. concluding with the men's sprint medley relay. THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS Brynne Sumner set a massive PR in the 1500 meter run, finishing the race in 4:20.96. That time is sixth-best in Clemson history and puts Sumner on her second top-10 list of the season. She holds the No. 7 spot in the 800 meter run. Tigers Wrap Up Doc Hale VT Meet

BLACKSBURG, Va.  Multiple Tigers competed on Friday at Virginia Tech's Doc Hale Meet, starting the weekend off strong with several impressive performances. This marks Clemson' penultimate meet before the ACC Championship Meet hosted by Louisville. HIGHLIGHTS Antoinette Van der Merwe set a personal best in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.31. She finished second in the event. Guinove Joanus won the men's 60 meter dash, boasting a 6.76 second time. Mercy Ntia-Obong set a personal best in the 60 meter dash, completing the race in 7.51 seconds. That was the fastest time in the prelims. She finished fourth in the finals.  Alocius Kipngetich, Theron Bradford, Daniel Sullivan and Braden Blakely all set personal bests in the 800 meter.
