Local jails are beginning the process to vaccinate their inmates against COVID-19 after a judge Monday ordered it was unjust for New York state to deny inmates in prisons and jails access. We re compiling a list of inmates that actually want it, Herkimer County Undersheriff Scott Leskovar said Wednesday. There are 27 inmates housed at the jail, as well as a dozen boarded at other jails, Leskovar said. On Thursday, Oneida County Chief Deputy of Corrections Lisa Zurek said inmates at Oneida County jail also were being surveyed. Around 38 of Madison County jail s 76 inmates were expected to be vaccinated Thursday, according to county Public Information Officer Samantha Field. ....
