And that kind of generosity. and decency. to then turn around and say, well, donald trump, nevermind. nevermind a, b, c, d, e, f, g, down to z, it s just incredibly hypocritical. i don t understand how the preachers look at themselves in the mirror. i don t understand how their congregations don t kind of scratch their heads and say, but, you know, aren t we supposed to try to be good and decent? isn t that the whole point? but, again, here we are. as if to shore up that constituency, donald trump has been reminding evangelicals, i got you, re versus wade, the holy grail. with the supreme court justices i appointed. ....
Where is the courage? listen. i mean, courage isn t something like you check at a pawn shop and then you go back and hand in the ticket and get it back. this really struck me about the president s speech which i felt was a powerful, important speech. what he said about donald trump for the most part can be said about the party. we had that moment right after 1/6 when you could almost hold your breath for how long it lasted. when republicans were actually talking the truthful that just went away. and nothing has changed except the party now, it is hard to even say these words. the party has become for the most part, an autocratic force in america. and i think we have to take that seriously, recognize it, and look at the alternative. and for those of us who work with the democratic party, i don t know any way to say the truth other than the democratic ....
