My brokerage account how much i was paying in fees and it wasnt until i hired and independent consultant who told me how much i was paying. It shocked me. One of the points the article made was that over the course of 30 years, to investors two investors with roughly the same amount of money but one with an actively managed account would reap much less than going to an index fund. Over the long run, actively managed accounts cannot beat the market. They are lucky to stay even with the market.
