Frontiers | Type D Personality Is an Independent Predictor of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in Young Men - Vimarsana News

Frontiers | Type D Personality Is an Independent Predictor of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in Young Men

This cross-sectional study, which included men aged 20–40 years, aimed to determine the relationships among type D personality, depressive symptoms and lower urinary tract symptoms in young men. An internet-based questionnaire was administered, and General demographics, International Prostate Symptom Scores, Type D Scale-14 scores, and Depression and Somatic Symptom Scale scores were analyzed. A total of 3,127 men were included; of these, 762 (24.4%) reported moderate/severe lower urinary tract symptoms, and 1,565 (50.05%) met the criteria for type D personality. Men with type D personality ...

Frontiers | Intermittent Hypoxia Rewires the Liver Transcriptome and Fires up Fatty Acids Usage for Mitochondrial Respiration

Sleep Apnea Syndrome (SAS) is one of the most common chronic diseases, affecting nearly one billion people worldwide. The repetitive occurrence of abnormal respiratory events generates cyclical desaturation-reoxygenation sequences known as intermittent hypoxia (IH). Among SAS metabolic sequelae, it has been established by experimental and clinical studies that SAS is an independent risk factor for the development and progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The principal goal of this study was to decrypt the molecular mechanisms at the onset of IH-mediated liver injury. To add...

Frontiers | Predicting Spike Features of Hodgkin-Huxley-Type Neurons With Simple Artificial Neural Network

Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) -type model is the most famous computational model for simulating neural activity. It shows the highest accuracy in capturing neuronal spikes, and its model parameters have definite physiological meanings. However, HH-type models are computationally expensive. To address this problem, a previous study proposed a spike prediction module (SPM) to predict whether a spike will take place 1 ms later based on three voltage values with intervals of 1ms. Although SPM does well, it fails to evaluate the informative features of the spike. In this study, the feature prediction module ...

Frontiers | Early Quaternary Tectonic Transformation of the Helan Shan: Constraints Due To Quantitative Geomorphology - Vimarsana News

Frontiers | Early Quaternary Tectonic Transformation of the Helan Shan: Constraints Due To Quantitative Geomorphology

The Helan Shan is located on the front edge of the expanding Tibetan Plateau. However, how the topography here responds to this propagation and its precise time constraints remains unknown. Based on the response process of fluvial landforms and tectonic evolution, we conducted a quantitative landform analysis of the Helan Shan region. Here, the spatial distribution features of various geomorphic indices were coupled, demonstrating that the mountain is tilting toward the west and north. The steeper downstream and gentle upper reaches indicate that the fluvial landforms have experienced an accel...
