A seven-foot-long wooden table made by Chester County craftsman Wharton Esherick will be auctioned off this month by Skinner Auctioneers. The West Philly native made the piece in 1937 for a conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra. It's expected to sell for between $50,000 and $70,000. The auction will begin on Saturday at noon and run until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 24. Esherick had a big influence on the studio craft movement. His Malvern studio is now a museum.
