Tread carefully on solar-related stocks

THE election of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States has brought cheer to the renewable energy (RE) industry in the country. He has pledged to combat climate change under a US$2 trillion plan while creating millions of jobs at home in the green sector.
On Jan 27, the White House announced that Biden will ensure that the federal government leverages its buying power to procure carbon-pollution-free electricity, made in the US, to stimulate clean energy industries.
Once in office, he also cancelled the construction of the Keystone XL gas pipeline.
As a result, investors piled into RE stocks, including solar energy stocks. The Invesco Solar Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), which tracks an index of solar energy stocks, had returned 237.93% over the one-year period ended Jan 31.

Cypark attempting to breakout from the sideways zone, says RHB Retail Research

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 9): RHB Retail Research said Cypark Resources Bhd is attempting to breakout from the sideways zone. In a trading stocks note today, the research house said the stock has been consolidating sideways for the past two months, with the immediate resistance marked at RM1.50. “A successful breakout from the resistance will see the stock trading higher to test the next hurdle at RM1.57, followed by RM1.70. “A downside breach of the RM1.36 support would negate this expectation, and shall see a stock price correction,” it said.

my Say: The time is ripe for more sustainable issuances

There has been a notable shift in discussions about sustainability and business in recent years, especially with the recent measures to support sustainable financing announced in Budget 2021.
The outbreak of Covid-19 accelerated concerns about climate change and social inequalities, especially as the pandemic proved just how vulnerable our environment and our economies can be. We have seen a surge in conversations on environmental and social issues and increasingly, people are putting their money where their mouth is.
Equity markets have seen a surge in volume as investors flock to potential winners amid the pandemic, and amid greater liquidity driven by low interest rates. But beyond this, investors are increasingly tapping debt markets to deliver longer-term sustainable returns.
