Davenport Fire Department responds to vehicle fire

Davenport, IA- The Davenport Fire Department is investigating a vehicle fire that occurred Thursday. According to a news release, at about 1:22 AM Thursday, May 23rd, the Davenport Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found several items burning in the street and a pickup truck on fire several hundred yards down the road. Fire crews quickly extinguished the vehicle, which had come to rest when it struck and damaged an electrical transformer. Additional fire crews worked on extinguishing the burning items found in the roadway, The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. ....
