The hudson institute. david, what was your take on democracy being the number one issue in the vice president's mind? >> it's ridiculous. our democracy is functionally in excellent condition. yes we have profound division, but that happened throughout history. i am much more concerned about our lack of commit to the democracy around the world and the communist regimes and their aims to disrupt our global fabric of security. and to that imperil democracy. perhaps that's what the vice president thought, i don't think so. i am not sure what her concern is. i don't think the soviet union is coming...
>> frankly, one of this our democracy. the year 2021 is not year 2000. there is so much about foreign and domestic policy that was guide and prioritized based on september 11, 2001, and we are embark on a new era where the threats to our nation take many forms including the threat of autocracy take over and having influence all over the world. i go back to our point about the need to fight for the integrity of our democracy. in addition it's what we need to do with the climate crisis. brian: i can think of a lot of answers to the question about security challenges, but that wasn't one of them....
