U.S. farmers said they intend to plant a record-high 91 million acres of soybeans this year, according to the recent Prospective Plantings Report issued by USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The number is up four percent from 2021. Illinois and Missouri had the highest expected increases and intent to plant 400,000 more acres than last year. The first installment of 2020 payable 2021 Edwards County Real Estate Taxes was due November 30th. The total extension was $6,276,962, and, as of Tuesday, 71 percent of that total had been paid, according to County Treasurer Debbie Smith. The second installment is due by December 30th, and payment may be made in person, by mail, or in the drop box on the northeast side of the courthouse.
