Bay area cities over the death of george floyd. Here is what it looked like late last night. Thousands of people gathered in downtown oakland to express their outrage over the death of another black man by a black police officer. It turned into looting across oakland. This video from walgreens, the same area where last nights demonstrations began. Someone set a fire inside as dozens of people took over the store. The crowd grew to an estimated 5,000 protesters during one standoff. This one at 7th and broadway. Protesters threw fireworks and projectiles at police. It poured on to the 880 freeway. Traffic stopped in both directions. Many people told us they didnt want violence to overshadow why people are protesting all over the country.
