Amakhosi currently occupy ninth position on the log standings, having won just five of their 21 league matches played thus far, and are desperately fighting for a place in the top eight.
Daniel Cardoso, who has featured in all but two of the club's 35 matches across all competitions thus far, has accepted that this has not been one of his best seasons as an individual.

Golden Arrows up to 600 league matches in the PSL era

Apr 19, 2021 - 05:08 pm
By Lovemore Moyo
Lamontville Golden Arrows clocked a landmark 600 league matches to become only the eighth club to reach that mark in the history of the PSL era.
The home draw against Bloemfontein Celtic in their last outing was the KwaZulu-Natal outfit's 600th league game played since their first against Santos back on August 9, 2000.
That game against Santos finished 1-1 with Siyabonga Khanyile scoring the first ever league goal for Abafana Bes’thende, who had already played a two-legged Rothmans Cup preliminary round tie against African Wanderers.
In reaching this milestone, Arrows now join Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, the now defunct Bidvest Wits, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Moroka Swallows in surpassing 600 league games since the start of the PSL in 1996.

Augusto Palacios says Doctor Khumalo and Tebogo Moloi deserve coaching

Former Orlando Pirates coach Augusto Palacios believes Doctor Khumalo and Teboho Moloi should be coaching in the Premier Soccer League.
Khumalo and Moloi are two of the biggest names in South African football who represented the two biggest clubs in the country during their respective playing careers.
Khumalo holds a UEFA B license in coaching, while Moloi has served as assistant under coaches like Palacios and Vladimir Vermezovic at Pirates.
"It's correct, I agree 100%." Palacios tells
"First, you cannot have any Doctor Khumalo at the moment. No one can copy or can arrive closer to him. No one. From the time I coached him at the club level and international level...no one. He deserves to have an opportunity whether it's at Kaizer Chiefs or national team. Because he played for the national team, he was in the technical team at Kaizer Chiefs. But I think the opportunity was too short. I think he's grown, he's matured. The difference is Doctor is not taking nonsense, not taking politics, he's (only) talking about coaching.

Andries Sebola says the relegation-threatend sides can end Mamelodi

Apr 18, 2021 - 09:00 am
By Sipho Mlotha
Former Orlando Pirates striker Andries Sebola does not believe Mamelodi Sundowns will finish the 2020/21 DStv Premiership campaign unbeaten.
The defending league champions extended their unbeaten run in the top flight to 20 matches, surpassing Kaizer Chiefs' record of going unbeaten in their first 19 matches,
After last Thursday's 4-1 demolition of Orlando Pirates in Nedbank Quarter-final, Sebola says only teams that are playing to avoid relegation will give Sundowns their first loss.
"Twenty games without a loss in the PSL games, maybe for the three coaches Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego they are doing a good job for Sundowns." Sebola tells

Josef Zinnbauer gives hope to Azola Tshobeni

Apr 17, 2021 - 01:00 pm
By Ernest Fakude
Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer is convinced youngster Azola Tshobeni will have a great future with the Soweto giants.
The 18-year-old was promoted to Buccaneers senior team this season after impressing in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge last campaign.
Having already made five DStv Premiership appearances this term, Zinnbauer has predicted a bright future for the midfielder, but says it is important that the Soweto giants protect him.
"We have to be careful with young players. You can make mistake if you put players in wrong time in the game. You know players are young and need time. So it's always likely (his performance) to go high and then drop, it go high and drop. It's normal in these football times, " Zinnbauer said before of the Nedbank Cup clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 32-year-old midfielder last played in South Africa for Mamelodi Sundowns, where he was also loaned to SuperSport United, before moving to America in 2019.
TTM co-coach Mpho Maleka says Lebese is working hard at training and could officially appear in the team's colours very soon.
"He is working very hard and doing extra training. We are still assessing him but I am sure in a week's time he will be ready to play," Maleka tells

Matsimela Thoka says Baroka FC won't respect Kaizer Chiefs

That's according to the Limpopo club's head coach Matsimela Thoka.
Thoka says there is no way his side will fail to score against the CAF Champions League quarter-finalists at Peter Mokaba Stadium after the games kicks off at 15h00.
He says as a team they can't be intimidated by their opponents' recent achievements in Africa.
"I think it's not going to be an easy game as those guys are motivated after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League," Thoka tells
"But we are readym we are playing at home, we can't intimidated by what they've managed to do. We just need to focus on our game, we are not going to respect them. We must just give them a run for their money.

Apr 15, 2021 - 09:36 am
By Staff Reporter
All things will be equal between Baroka and Kaizer Chiefs in their next DStv Premiership meeting at Peter Mokaba Stadium today.
Chiefs will be seeking to take all the points from the clash and break the uniform run of results they have been stuck on against the Limpopo club.
In the 11 meetings between Chiefs and Baroka it remains square in the order of results up to this day.
Chiefs have won three with Baroka also emerging victorious in another three while the other five have all ended in draws including the stalemate left Amakhosi weeping as they surrendered the league title on the last day.

Apr 14, 2021 - 10:01 am
By Sipho Mlotha
Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant and renowned development coach Farouk Khan advises the CAF Champions League quarter-finalists to buy wisely for next season.
Up until recently Amakhosi were expected to overhaul their current squad, but recent results in the Champions League have surely brought a huge headache to both the club management and head coach Gavin Hunt.
With some optimism now emerging, there could be doubt on whether they should give the current group of players a second chance next season.
"I think I've been saying it all along that those players are not as bad as people are making them out to be," Khan tells

Gavin Hunt must influence signings at Kaizer Chiefs, says Shane

Apr 13, 2021 - 09:45 am
By Lovemore Moyo
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Shane McGregor believes Gavin Hunt needs to be provided with the power to influence signings going into next season if he is to sort out the issue of egos in his squad.
Chiefs have been disappointing this term on the domestic coming stuck in both the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup while they have stuttered so bad in the league that they have won just five league games from the 20 played to date.
Consolation is that they have squeezed into the last eight of the CAF Champions League in Hunt’s debut campaign at Naturena which has also coincided with the club falling under a two-window transfer ban.

The Ajax Amsterdam academy graduate has racked up 85 appearances for the club, with the most recent start in Saturday's impressive 3-0 win over SuperSport United at Cape Town Stadium.

Mamelodi Sundowns already counting league-winning points tally

Apr 13, 2021 - 12:57 pm
By Staff Reporter
Manqoba Mngqithi has admitted that Mamelodi Sundowns have started making calculations about how they will land a historic fourth title in a row with after clocking up a two-thirds unbeaten start to the season.
Straight after setting a new PSL record of 20 games unbeaten at the start of a new season, Mngqithi says they are now doing the mathematics of how many points they will need to land a fourth title in a row.
The most that Sundowns need now is 19 points from the 30 available to play for but that number might still drop depending on what happens with the chasing pack, which is led by an in-form AmaZulu who can only reach a maximum of 64 points.

Gordon Igesund analyses Molefi Ntseki sacking at Bafana Bafana

Apr 12, 2021 - 01:52 pm
By Sipho Mlotha
Former Bafana Bafana and PSL coach Gordon Igesund has questioned whether the sacking of coaches is the answer to the national team's struggles.
Igesund, who managed the national team from July 1, 2012 until April 30, 2014, believes the problem won't be solved by simply scratching the surface.
Asked if SAFA was right to fire the coach, Igesund said he believes Ntseki was rushed into the position.
"Look, I think Ntseki is a very good guy, he's a good up-and-coming coach, but I think he shouldn't have been given the job in the first place, he was doing well with the under-23s, under-20s and the junior teams you know," Igesund tells

The Chilly Boys have been in the news for hiring and firing controversial Belgian coach Luc Eymael last week.
Chippa are battling relegation, while the Tshwane giants are cruising at the top of the log table. Already qualified Sundowns lost 0-2 to CR Belouizdad of Algeria in the CAF Champions League encounter at Loftus last week.

Apr 12, 2021 - 06:46 pm
By Staff Reporter
Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi says they made game tougher than it should have been with their missed opportunities.
Themba Zwane and Peter Shalulile were among the goals as Sundowns overcame the Chilli Boys on Monday afternoon.
"I think we made this game more difficult than what it should have been. I think we got far too many one against one situations, credit must also be given to [Ismail] Watenga [goalkeeer], I think he played very well," Mngqithi told SuperSport TV.
"But when you're not shrewd, you end up getting a draw or losing a match like this one because to be honest the number of chances we created and at a certain point at half-time I was even worried to be honest because I have seen too many games like this.
