HINGHAM – Town residents voted on Saturday to make Carol Falvey their first new town clerk in more than two decades. After 24 years, Town Clerk Eileen McCracken will retire and Falvey, a lawyer and former two-term member of the Hingham School Committee, will fill her role. Falvey said she is looking forward to getting to know the staff in the clerk s office. She said she is focused on enacting new voting laws, as well as increasing voter engagement with new communication methods and improved use of social media. I was very gratified by the results, Falvey said Sunday. I had a very strong team with people from sort of different groups in Hingham and I do feel like I had broad-based support. So I m very humbled by the victory.
