The Michigan congressman wants to put in place federal rules and penalties for threatening election workers or polling places.

The Election Worker and Polling Place Protection Act would amend the Voting Rights Act to implement penalties, including fines and prison sentences, for anyone who threatens, intimidates, or gets violent with election workers, including volunteers and election equipment workers.

The legislation would have reshaped the election landscape in the United States by expanding voting access and re-fortifying the Voting Rights Act.
