Because the world is a little haywire right now, I am still getting emails about how things are looking in the world of travel, so I thought maybe I could share a few of them, because, after all, you might be wondering the same thing!
Q: I read that the CDC said cruising could start in July. Is it time to book a cruise to Alaska?
A:  The rumors are out there.  Last week, the presidents of Holland America and Norwegian both hinted very strongly crusing could return to Alaska in August.  Yet, I tend to agree with the famous words of Col. William Prescott when, at the battle of Bunker Hill, told his men not to fire at the British Red Coats until  they saw the whites of their eyes.  As a travel agent at Monroe Travel Service where cruising is a large percentage of our business, I so wish cruising could return, but I doubt it will happen so quickly.

Tahiti Is Open To U.S. Travelers And Airlines Are Responding

TravelAwaits
May.12.2021
French Polynesia, which includes Tahiti, opened its borders to American tourists earlier this month, and now airlines are responding by adding flights to actually get you to the South Pacific paradise.
Tahiti, Bora Bora, and the other islands that comprise French Polynesia opened to American tourists on May 1 with a number of restrictions in place. The first step is to apply for entry through the islands’ Electronic Travel Information System between 6 and 30 days before travel to obtain authorization to travel.
Travelers who have proof of vaccination will be exempt from quarantine upon arrival, but everyone must show proof of a negative COVID test taken within three days of departure. Those who haven’t been vaccinated must quarantine for 10 days after arrival. Visitors are also subject to testing upon arrival.

That Tahitian vacation you've been dreaming about can now become a reality as the Islands of Tahiti — including Bora Bora, Moorea, and Tahiti itself — will reopen to tourists starting May 1.
The announcement was made by Edouard Fritch, the president of French Polynesia, following a Paris meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron last week, the French paper
Le Figaro reported. The group of 118 islands in the Pacific Ocean had its first month without any COVID-19-related deaths, as the case numbers have been falling since January, Fritch stated.

Tahiti to reopen to international tourists from May – Travel Weekly

09 Apr
2021
The islands of Tahiti will welcome tourists once again as of 1 May, with French Polynesia obtaining ‘Safe Travels’ certification.
French Polynesian president Edouard Fritch made the announcement on Wednesday after returning from Paris where he met with several members of the French government and French President Emmanuel Macron.
“We are going to put in place a protocol at the entry of our borders using virological testing, serological testing, vaccine and ETIS (Electronic Travel Information System),” Fritch said.
“We will explain this protocol in detail with the High Commissioner in the coming days.”
This came as French Polynesia was certified as a World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC)
