McFadden brings mythology to science with exhibit of elemental art

Robin McFadden’s Elemental Art
Jason Myers
It all started with a shower curtain. Seeing the periodic table of elements in her bathroom every day for several years sparked what has been a fruitful and challenging project for Colorado Springs artist Robin McFadden: painting a fantastical being to represent each element.
Depicting the elements as elves, dragons, people and plenty more, McFadden, founder-owner of art company BiteThePaintbrush, brings the table of elements to life in a bright and creative fashion.
To create her characters, she takes the chemical properties of each element and identifies more intangible, adventurous qualities in them. These manifest as tangible aspects — clothing or objects — in her paintings.  ....

Eltra Celebrates 40 Years of Elemental Analysis Innovation

Mar 06 2021 Read 439 Times
The development of the first carbon and sulphur analyser in 1981 marked the beginning of Eltra s success story 40 years ago. From day one, the focus was on the design of analysers for the precise determination of C, H, N, O, S element concentrations in solids.
Over the years, the product portfolio was further expanded and refined, for example by adding thermogravimetric analysers. In 2012, Eltra became part of the Verder Group and was integrated into the Scientific Division, which is home to renowned companies from the laboratory and analytical sector, including Retsch and Microtrac. Under the new management, substantial investments were made in new products and services for C/H/N/O/S elemental analysis and macro thermogravimetry. ....

2020 Planned Expansions Additional Capabilities for Devon Lab

Feb 17 2021 Read 514 Times
2020 was an exceptional year for Elemental Lab, even in the face of the unprecedented global business challenges of the year. Despite the pandemic, the staff at Elemental Lab was able to achieve three major goals for the year to better support analysis customers: re-certification of the lab, a re-launched website, and additional equipment for improved capabilities.
In the autumn of 2020, Elemental Lab was awarded ISO 17025 re-accreditation by UKAS for CHNOS Organic Elemental Analysis as well as Protein Analysis. Given the COVID-19 situation, the procedure was virtual and extended over several weeks with evidence supplied very differently as opposed to in person where the selection of evidence is based on a single day’s activities. In keeping with the lab’s history of producing high quality analysis results, the staff at Elemental Lab is proud to maintain their UKAS accreditation as well as to continue to be a trusted subcontractor for Merck ....
