Ross airs concerns over BBC lack of impartiality and trotting out SNP lines

PREMIUM Bias? Ross: It just seems like the BBC trots out SNP lines rather than impartial, unbiased lines DOUGLAS Ross has accused the BBC of showing bias and a lack of impartiality, saying concerns are growing about how the broadcaster in Scotland “trots out” SNP lines. In an exclusive interview with The Herald, the Scottish Conservative leader said he would be complaining to BBC chiefs about how, in the run-up to May’s Holyrood poll, the Nationalists were gaining an unfair political advantage and were seeking to use the corporation in their drive to make Scotland a “one-party state”. He echoed his Tory colleague Scottish Secretary Alister Jack’s call for Nicola Sturgeon to be replaced by a medical expert in the daily Covid briefings, which Mr Ross claimed had become “politicised”.

Is the UK really about to become a failed state ?

By “this disaster” Mr Osborne was talking of the break up of the UK. It came as I was signing orders for the first copies of my new book How Britain Ends, which takes up the same theme. I was stunned that Mr Osborne, a leading thinker in “the Conservative and Unionist party” agreed that prime minister Boris Johnson has put the union of the UK at risk. In the book I argue that the UK has survived Scottish, Welsh and even violent Irish nationalism, but cannot survive resurgent English nationalism plus the incompetence of the Johnson government. Mr Osborne wrote: “By unleashing English nationalism, Brexit has made the future of the UK the central political issue of the coming decade. Northern Ireland is already heading for the exit door.”

Tory MPs from fishing areas criticise government over Brexit red tape

With some Scottish seafood exporters warning they face possible bankruptcy amid a suspension of road deliveries due to border delays, the environment secretary, George Eustice, conceded the sector faced “teething issues” and “some additional administration”. However, when asked several times by MPs about Boris Johnson’s promise during an appearance before the Commons liaison committee to compensate businesses affected by the new regime, Eustice ignored the questions.
