(See above.) There's a danger in reacting to "The moment" ... so befitting of Oakwood School, there was a lot of process in coming to a decision. It's my understanding that the voting is underway between the pre-approved Owl, Orca and Oak Tree.    There's even an official lecture. I'll note that all proposed team names begin with the letter "o". Ty Cobb:   My little gorilla was a terrific softball player. Her brother had been a franchise catcher at the Beeman park little league in Studio City where they grew up.  When the young lad packed it in to play soccer at a neighboring school, R...

Grand Park THE CITY- Judicial Blowback: Federal Judge Carter made a decent point about monitoring the county and the city's activities intended to improve the homelessness situation, but the wind has been blowing against him.    Carter wants the City to provide a detailed breakdown of funding sources, uses, objectives, methods and means so that the court can monitor the historic Binding Commitment and Implementation Plan (the "Plan").   He wants hard numbers with answers about racial disparities in housing and homelessness.   The Board of Supervisors have a lawyer named Skip ...

LOS ANGELES-There is nothing more boring than a budget hearing schedule. I attended my first ever budget kickoff for the County of Los Angeles and was informed by Mike Antonovich that I would be given sixty seconds to address the entire $28 billion budget at the time.   I thought that seemed right as no other speakers, save the chap from SEIU had shown up. Besi...

Historic Kickoff MY TURN-There was a lot of optimism on November 9, 2019, as dozens of candidates diligently filed paperwork and took historic pictures or videos as they kicked off campaigns to save the City.   The field of 2020 LA City election candidates had been invited to Piper Tech, an enormous loading dock near Union Station to collect fresh stacks of signature petitions for the March 3, 2020 ballot.    Each of the100 three-paged petitions that are explained in thirteen languages has room for twenty signatures, so if a candidate is so inclined, they could gather and submi...
