53 Caraga villages bag 2021 good governance seal

BUTUAN CITY - Fifty-three villages in the Caraga Region have passed the 2021 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB), the regional office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-13) said Wednesday. The SGLGB aims to encourage the barangays to scale up their performance and practices of good governance. According to DILG-13 data, Surigao del Norte got the highest number of barangays that passed the SGLGB with 17, followed by Surigao del Sur with 13, and Agusan del Norte with 12. DILG-13 also listed seven barangays from Agusan del Sur that made it to the list of passers, three in the Province of Dinagat Islands, and one from this city. In a statement Wednesday, the local government unit (LGU) of Claver in Surigao del Norte lauded village officials who worked hard that made their barangays land in last year's SGLGB. Bills granting 25-year franchise to NCCP, 10 firms lapse into law

MANILA - At least 11 measures granting 25-year congressional franchise to the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) and 10 other firms have lapsed into law. Former President Rodrigo Duterte allowed the measures to lapse on June 2 without his signature. Republic Acts (RAs) 11833 and 11834 give Prime Broadcasting Network Inc. and NCCP, respectively, a franchise to construct, install, establish, operate, and maintain radio and television broadcasting stations in the country for 25 years. RA 11839, on the other hand, grants GVM Radio/TV Corp. 25 years to construct, install, establish, operate, and maintain radio broadcasting stations in Cebu City and other areas in the country. The laws require the grantee to secure from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) the appropriate permits and licenses for the construction and operation of their stations or facilities. The NTC, on the other hand, must not "unreasonably" withhold or delay the granting of permit ....
