United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, is shopping for the next Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to succeed the trade agency’s previous chief, Mukhisa Kituyi.
In the interim, he has appointed Ms. Isabelle Durant of Belgium, to the role to ensure a smooth transition as he conducts a recruitment process, in consultation with member states, to find Kituyi’s successor.
Ms. Durant assumed her role as UNCTAD’s Acting Secretary-General on Tuesday, after serving as the organisation’s deputy secretary-general from July 3, 2017.
