Mid-atlantic, steady rains through north carolina, showers towards raleigh. it is a murky atmosphere. a lot of moisture available, it is humid. there are a lot of clouds. i stopped it at 5:00 p.m. this evening. this is the evening ride home. heaviest rains in and around washington, d.c., west virginia, delaware, showers towards philadelphia, new york. then these little dots are pop up showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. rainy set up the next couple days, tropical low near florida drifts north at the same time high pressure pumps moisture into the stalled front. this will ring moisture out over the carolinas, virginia, right up through the mid-atlantic region, slight risk of flooding next couple days south of new york city because of that expected three to four inches of rain. some areas won t see the sun until sunday afternoon, includes new york, philly, d.c. thanks, bill. ....
Strikes left with this. a couple here in pennsylvania. this will die as it heads to i-95 this morning and later on this afternoon we ll get round 2. there s 28 million people at risk of severe weather. and actually does not include new york city but it does include newark all the way back up through the hudson valley. here s a closer view of the area for the slight risk today. eastern pennsylvania, the d.c. area down there to richmond. and the timing of the storm, 7:00 a.m., this line dies as it goes throughout the morning. maybe around philadelphia around noon there could be a shower or two, but by the time it makes its to new york city it dries up. by 3:00 p.m. a new line will form and this line will bring the chance of some of those severe storms with the gusty winds from d.c. north wards all the way through the hudson valley. same for baltimore and new york city that line of storms is approaching right around 5:00 p.m. that evening ride home could be ....
North. so this reddish color, that is a foot. some of the mountains could get higher than that. official forecast for philadelphia was increased overnight to 8 to 12 inches. new york city is at 8 to 12, boston, because of that warmer easterly wind, you are in the 1 to 3 inch mark. albany also in that 8 to 12 inches. so don t expect a problem with your morning commute in many places. it is this afternoon and this evening, that is the main show. that is when the intensity of the snow will be able to accumulate. so takes difficult forecast. but i think this evening ride home will be very problematic, probably people that will get caught on the roads, plows will not be able to keep up. thundersnow quick and powerful, so just stay home if they can? if you can get away with it. unfortunately not everyone can t. people will get to work just fine and then they will wonder how they are getting home. we ll check back with you later on. but one more story for you here. it s been an exciting ....
Currently in effect for parts of five states with a threat of heavy snow, freezing rain and sleet for the northern plains and upper midwest. this was the scene over the weekend in wyoming after a snow swept through the state causing more than 50 accidents. let me bring in nbc meteorologist bill karins. this is storm number two. now we re heading a little further north and this will be primarily a snowstorm. over the weekend that ice was really nasty stuff, especially oklahoma hit by far the hardest. on the weather map heading into the winter season, the green is the rain. the pinker shades, that s either sleet or freezing rain. the white is all snow. it is nice and simple when it is all snow like we have in omaha right here. you have a coating, it gets a little slippery. when you get the ice out there, then the snow on top of that is when you really start skating on the roads. that s going to be happening across iowa later today and tonight heading towards minneapolis. through today ....
