FAIRBORN The Fairborn City Schools Board of Education took the opportunity at its May 6 regular meeting to thank the community for passing the renewal levy during the special election on Tuesday. The vote makes a 7-mill substitute levy continuous, and voters will not have to renew the levy. “The Fairborn City Schools district is poised to write the next chapter in our community,” Lolli said. “The renewal levy will provide financial stability for operating costs for years to come.” ....
Auditor approves FCS levy on May ballot By London Bishop - lbishop@aimmediamidwest.com FAIRBORN The Fairborn Board of Education took the second action necessary to place a renewal levy on the May 2021 ballot, as the Greene County Auditor has certified that the millage will be 7.0 mills. This levy request will not increase property taxes, the district says. The levy is a renewal of one that was first passed in 2007, and renewed in 2012 and 2016. The second resolution to place it on the May ballot was passed at the school board’s Jan. 7 meeting. According to FCS, this is reduced from the original 8.6 mills that was passed in 2007. The renewal millage was dropped to 8.4 in 2012, and the proposed 7 mills is the lowest renewal amount to date. ....
FCS extends remote learning to Jan. 22 By London Bishop - lbishop@aimmediamidwest.com Fairborn teachers conducted remote learning during the month of December due to a rise in COVID-19 cases locally. Teachers gave their lessons via Zoom in December, as the district went fully remote before the holidays. The district will continue its remote learning after Christmas break from Jan. 4 to Jan. 22. FAIRBORN As the holidays approach, Fairborn City Schools has made the decision to continue remote education next semester. All schools will continue to be fully remote from Jan. 4 to Jan. 22, in anticipation of increased COVID-19 spread this holiday season. ....
