October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and local organization Thriving Pink is holding a host of events this month to support the community and raise awareness.
Chamber President Stephen Gordon noted that although the cold and rain deterred many from visiting the late-February festival this year, the chamber still saw an increase in its number of vendors and a 10% increase in gross income.
“For me, the biggest thing is legacy,” Gordon emphasized. “My grandfather came here in the 50s to start a life and I feel it’s irresponsible for us to not try to live up to that work that took to get here. Otherwise, what was it all really for.”
