Way before we had Piers Morgan screaming on the telly was the much-loved GMTV.
First broadcasting in January 1993, ITV's former weekday breakfast magazine show had the usual mix of hard news, sport, fun features, cookery and showbiz gossip.
Over the years it underwent a number of revamps and in 2000 was split into The Newshour and GMTV Today before going back to its original title in 2009.
It also spawned other great spin-offs such as weekend edition Sunday Best, political show The Sunday Programme, Entertainment Today and GMTV with Lorraine.

MPs go head-to-head over responsible lending bill

MPs go head-to-head over responsible lending bill

Several MPs went head-to-head at the second reading debate in the Houses of Parliament, with members of the Opposition particularly concerned over the impact of the repeal of responsible lending laws.
On Monday (15 March), the National Consumer Credit Protection Amendment (Supporting Economic Recovery) Bill 2020 – which focuses on amending the credit laws so that they remove responsible lending obligations (RLOs) and extend the best interests duty to more credit assistance providers, among other changes – was debated in Parliament during its second and third reading.
The debates, held in the Houses of Parliament, followed on from the release of the Senate economics legislation committee final report for its inquiry into the matter on Friday (12 March), which recommended that the bill be passed.

As politicians debate the bill to repeal responsible lending, CAFBA has said that repealing the obligations would help reduce any “grey area” when it comes to commercial lending.
During the debates, which extended into the evening, several Labor MPs suggested that the changes the bill is proposing would negatively impact business lending.

'Covid bounce' warning - York residents may be in for a 'shock'

Crowds are expected to return to the city centre as York gets a ‘Covid bounce’
YORK is expecting to see a “Covid bounce” with more people visiting the city than usual this summer - and residents are being warned it could come as "a shock".
Council chiefs say their focus will be on keeping people safe by creating more outdoor seating areas, launching traders’ squares throughout the city which will be managed by nearby businesses and putting in extra toilets and bins.
“The challenge will be managing the amount of people who want to come to the city,” said Neil Ferris, director of place at City of York Council. “It’s going to be a shock to get back to normal levels of people. If we do have a Covid bounce, that will feel like even more of a change for residents.”

Founded more than a century ago by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer, the iconic brand made its reputation in the early 20th century for only selling British made goods under its “St Michael” label. In 1998, the company became the first British retailer to make a pre-tax profit of over £1billion, but just one year later those profits were halved. M&S currently has 959 stores across the UK, but 615 of those now only sell food products, after the company confirmed more than 100 clothing stores will have closed by 2022 as part of a new “radical” plan.
