A race to remember, a tradition to treasure: New musher competes in first dog sled race

Explorer and filmmaker Felipe Gomez followed three men who took part in a dogsled race in northern Saskatchewan: a young man racing for the first time, a musher with some experience, and a University of Saskatchewan professor who mentored them both. All say its an experience they'll never forget.

Opinion: Land-based education should be expanded to all schools in Saskatchewan

I did not have the luxury of growing up learning anything land-based. I grew up indoors learning to cook, clean, sew and watch the news. That being said, I did learn great things, but it was indoors with my grandmother and aunts.
When the opportunity came to learn about the land, I took it and I’ve been slowly learning for the past three years. Hunting still makes me uncomfortable. As a child I dreaded the outdoors and was scared of most animals and insects.
