Native American Art Gallery Extends Stay In Mashpee Commons

The Wampanoag Trading Post Gallery Extension, which opened temporarily in November in honor of Native American Heritage Month, continues to be open at 5 North Street in Mashpee Commons, showcasing work by Native American artists.
The large space is currently featuring paintings by Nelson Andrews, Robert Peters and Natasha Frye, all citizens of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, along with photographs by Rachael Devaney, who is from Centerville and is of Aztec descent.
With its high ceilings and open space, there’s plenty of room in the gallery for the artists to set up studio space and work. Many times it’s during the off hours that the artists come in. “What we’ve been doing is the announced open hours of the gallery are the same hours when our shop is open,” said Paula Peters, co-owner, along with Danielle Hill, of the Wampanoag Trading Post and Gallery, located across the street from the gallery extension. Ms. Peters and Ms. Hill are curators of the extension exhibit space.
