Senate employees' union mulls asking CHR, UN for help vs gov't red-tagging move – Manila Bulletin

The Senate employees’ union is considering asking the courts or the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) for legal assistance after the chief of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) linked the organization to leftist groups. 
Officials of the Sandigan ng mga Empleyadong Nagkakaisa sa Adhikain ng Demokratikong Organisasyon (SENADO) disclosed such plans during a virtual press conference on Friday, April 9, as they reiterated their concerns on the government agency’s red-tagging activities on their group.
“We are already discussing our next steps after the malicious labeling of our group,” said Rosel Eugenio, SENADO president.
“We have a broad venue for redress. Aside from the courts, we can explore the possibility of elevating our concerns before the United Nations, and the CHR,” she further said. ....

Pangilinan: PH intel execs should focus on China's activities in WPS, not on Senate employees' group

Opposition Senator Francis ‘’Kiko’’ Pangilinan on Thursday, April 8, said the Philippine intelligence community should focus its attention on what China is doing at the Julian Felipe reef, a part of Philippine territory, and not nit-pick on small entities such as the Senate employees’ union.

The National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) should also look into the entry of some four million Chinese nationals into the country since 2017, he added.
Pangilinan, president of the Liberal Party, said he supports the stand of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on the continued refusal of a big number of Chinese armed militia vessels at Julian Felipe reef and nearby reefs. ....
