4 health centres to give jabs 6 days a wk from today | Noida News


Noida: Vaccination drive will be carried out six days a week at block-level government centres from March 15. Four community health centres will now inoculate people daily, except on Sundays, along with the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, and the District Hospital at Sector 30.
The decision was taken after the additional chief secretary health, Amit Mohan Prasad, issued a directive on Saturday. The four health centres are in Bisrakh, Dadri, Jewar and Dankaur. These centres had been inoculating people on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays till now.
“The directive was issued on Saturday with a view to reach out to maximum number of people, especially in the rural areas of the district and also to speed up the process. CHC Bisrakh, Dadri, Jewar and Dankaur will conduct the vaccination drive from Monday to Saturday starting March 15,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer in charge of Covid vaccination, Gautam Budh Nagar.

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: After Child PGI, Sharda Hospital is set to be de-notified as a Covid hospital. The move comes following a directive from ACS Amit Mohan Prasad on Monday. Officials said the decision was taken due to fewer Covid cases being reported in GB Nagar.
While the district retains GIMS in Greater Noida with 215 beds and NCH in Sector 39 with 390 beds as L2 Covid facilities. “We had sent a letter to the state government for reinstatement of earlier facilities, which have been suffering since the hospital was turned into a Covid facility,” said Dr Ajit Kumar, spokesperson of Sharda hospital.

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Covid vaccines were transported to four centres in Ghaziabad on Friday for the inaugural day inoculation drive on Saturday. About 400 healthcare workers will be vaccinated between 10am and 4pm. Similarly, in neighbouring Gautam Budh Nagar, vaccines were sent to 13 cold chains from the district vaccine store in Sector 39. From the cold chains, the vaccines will be sent to the designated six centres early on Saturday morning, where about 600 healthcare workers will receive the shots.
Though a government doctor will be deputed at each centre in both the districts to deal with any adverse effects following immunisation (AEFI) cases, Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida and District Hospital in Noida Sector 30 will be the main centres to deal with any adverse cases. Sharda hospital has also kept a 30-bed ICU ready for the purpose.

SUKKUR: Dr Abdul Wahab, head of the department of liver transplant and HPB surgery, Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Khairpur, has said the department had started liver and kidney transplants since 2019, and carried out 330 liver and 102 kidney transplants during the period by a team of nine surgeons.
Talking to ‘The News’, Dr Abdul Wahab said a team of five international German consultants had conducted only 20 liver transplant surgeries and then he and his team had taken all the responsibilities on their shoulders to run the department of liver transplant. He said patients came from throughout Pakistan, including Punjab, Balochistan and KPK, saying the OPD has been catering to as many as 250 patients. He said cost of a liver transplant is Rs4 to 5 million but GIMS did not charge a single penny from any patient.
