Wall St sees chance of higher bid for Kansas City Southern from Canadian Pacific

(Reuters) -Wall Street is expecting Canadian Pacific to raise its offer for Kansas City Southern even at the cost of more debt to win the bidding war with larger Canadian railroad rival Canadian National.

In the latest twist to the takeover saga, the U.S. railroad operator on Thursday accepted Canadian National’s $33.6 billion offer, leaving Canadian Pacific just five business days to make a new offer.
Analysts said Canadian Pacific was unlikely to let go a chance to be the first railway spanning the United States, Mexico and Canada easily even though it had said it would not leverage its books to outbid Canadian National. ....

Poland's InPost to launch eleven new logistics hubs this year

GDANSK, April 14 (Reuters) - Polish parcel locker company InPost said on Wednesday that it will launch 11 logistics hubs throughout Poland in response to growth in the courier services market.
InPost, which debuted on Euronext in Amsterdam in January, runs more than 11,000 automated parcel machines in Poland and provides courier services based on over 60 logistics centres.
The parcel business is widely used in Poland by sellers on online commerce platform Allegro.
The hubs will add more than 100,000 square meters to the company’s infrastructure, InPost also said.
“In 2020 we doubled turnover and the parcel volume we service - this year is set to be even better,” InPost Chief Executive Rafal Brzoska said in a statement. ....

Swedish self-driving start-up Einride raises $110 million

LONDON, May 6 (Reuters) - Swedish electric self-driving vehicle start-up Einride said on Thursday it has raised $110 million in its latest funding round, including new investments from Maersk’s venture capital arm and Singapore state investor Temasek.
This brings the total amount Einride has raised to $150 million and the fresh financing will be used to scale up deployments with the start-up’s major customers in Europe and the United States.
The company has developed the Einride Pod, an electric self-driving truck without a driver cabin.
Einride’s customers include Coca-Cola Co and Electrolux.
Chief Executive Officer Robert Falck told Reuters Einride has between 10 and 20 vehicles and aims to use the funding to have five to six times as many operating, mostly in the United States. He declined to give a specific valuation for the company but said it is approaching $1 billion. ....
