Law invoked to get 62 kanals for Shahkam Chowk overhead bridge - Newspaper

LAHORE: The commissioner on Tuesday imposed section 5 of the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 to acquire over 62 kanals required for the construction of Shahkam Chowk Flyover.
After the imposition of section 4, section 5 is the second step of the land acquisition process under which a notification is issued stating that particular land is needed for a public purpose or for a company.
The next steps required to be taken under the act for any particular piece of land for any project of public interest include sections 5-A for hearing of objections and section 6 to 17 on the declaration of the required land, issuing orders for acquisition, marking and measuring of the land, issuing notices to the persons interested, conducting inquiries, announcing the award of land, taking possession, etc.

LAHORE: The PTI government achieved another milestone in the City on Friday as the promotion of trade and economic activities is pivotal in developing societies.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of Lahore Central Business District at Walton Airport on Friday, the chief minister said the economic activities alleviate poverty by providing job opportunities.
The launch of Lahore Central Business District is a giant step in this regard, he added. The PTI has also introduced the avant-garde Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project and the foundation stone of another mega project has been laid to promote economic activities, he added. Giving details of the project, the CM said that Lahore Central Business District will be completed in three phases over an area of 300 acres. The first phase will be developed over an area of 128 acres and commercial activity of around Rs1,300 billion will be generated, he said. A commercial district will be established in the first phase, a digital district will be introduced in the second phase while a residential district will be built in the third phase.

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has planned several mega projects here on Thursday.
Officials said LDA, under Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s new Lahore Development Package, has planned three flyovers at Shahkam Chowk, Sheranwala Gate and Karim Block Crossing while an underpass was planned in front of Gulab Devi Hospital on Ferozpur Road.
They added that LDA sought applications for pre-qualification of contractors and engineering firms for construction till February 4, 2021. They were also asked to express interest for pre-qualification of consultant firms for Resident Supervision of construction work on three projects till February 12, 2021.

33 session sites identified for administering Covid-19 vaccine

Further stepping its efforts to ensure an effective mechanism for administering Covid-19 vaccine whenever it arrives, the district administration on Tuesday has earmarked 33 session sites (vaccination sites), where the vaccine would be given to frontline health workers under its first phase.
Presiding over a meeting of the district task force at the District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said these 33 sites include 24 in urban and nine in the rural belt of the district, where a five-member team including one vaccinator, two support staff, security personnel and one person to verify documents for 100 frontline workers would be deputed at each site.

LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced mega projects worth billions of rupees for the Lahore City development and said that Lahore would be given its due right.
Usman Buzdar said that a state-of-the-art 1,000 beds general hospital would be established on 124-kanal land of LDA along Ferozepur Road near Arfa Karim Technology Tower at a cost of Rs9 billion.
This hospital will have a capacity of 400 beds in the general ward, 400 beds in cardiology and 200 beds in blood diseases wards. The health department summary had been approved in this regard, he said adding Mother & Child Care hospital was being completed in Ganga Ram hospital at a cost of Rs4 billion; Childrenâs Hospital has been awarded status of University of Child Health Sciences and an amount of Rs4 billion has been allocated for this university.
