Major fires in Haarlem and Almere trigger NL-Alerts; Almere blaze still out of control

The emergency services issued NL Alerts for two major fires in Almere and Haarlem. Firefighters are still trying to get the blaze in a thrift store and clothing storage unit on an industrial terrain in Almere under control. The fire in an appliance store in Haarlem has been extinguished. Locals in both municipalities are urged to stay out of the smoke. As far as is known, no one got hurt.

Home prices dropped 3 percent last year; Cheaper in most municipalities

An average owner-occupied home cost less in seven out of ten municipalities last year than in 2022. According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the average sales price of a home was 416,000 euros, compared to around 429,000 euros in 2022. That is a decrease of 3 percent. Prices fell in all big cities - including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Eindhoven.
