LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and Central Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Hamza Shahbaz has said that swift measures should be taken against uncontrolled inflation and unemployment in the holy month of Ramazan.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said the government had failed to provide any relief to the poor. He said the sale of substandard goods and their high prices in the name of cheap bazaars was a serious joke with the fasting people.
âThere is chaos all over Pakistan, especially in Punjab. The economic murder of people is continuing and the government is playing the role of a silent spectator,â Hamza said, adding that shortage of vegetables, fruits and groceries and their sale at exorbitant prices during the holy month was cruelty. ....

LAHORE: Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly and Central Vice President of PML-N Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has demanded inquiry into the revelations of Bashir Memon. In a statement on Thursday, he claimed that the testimony of former DG FIA has proved Imran Niazi and Company guilty. “Memon s statement is proof that the office of the prime minister and government authority was used for criminal purposes,” he alleged, adding that in the light of Bashir Memon s statement, legal action should be taken against the conspirators without delay. Hamza Shahbaz further said that there was no doubt that there was no government in the country, there was a mafia that should be in the grip of the law. “It is highly reprehensible to threaten a former senior official who has told the truth about Imran Niazi and Company,” he said. ....

People took to social media to celebrate the closure of British counter-extremism organisation Quilliam, which has long been accused of Islamophobia.
Quilliam co-founder Maajid Nawaz announced in a statement on Twitter that the decision to shut down the organisation was due to the hardship of maintaining a non-profit during Covid lockdowns .
Critics of the group have accused Quilliam of Islamophobia, fraternising with the far-right, and mislabelling Muslim groups in the UK as extremists . ....
