Malaysia's Axiata joins hands with RHB Bank to seek digital bank licence

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) -Malaysian telecoms firm Axiata Group Bhd and RHB Bank Bhd said on Wednesday they have teamed up to apply for for a digital banking licence, joining what is expected to be a crowded field for a handful of licences on offer.
The central bank has said it will issue five licences for online-only lenders. Applications are due by the end of the month with final decisions expected by the end of 2022.
While RHB, like other traditional banks, offers customers its own online banking services, it said the planned partnership with Axiata s fintech unit, Boost Holdings Sdn Bhd, would focus on services for underserved retail customers and small and medium-sized businesses. ....

Shaftesbury losses deepen; says West End revival underway | 25 May 2021

StockMarketWire.com - London West End property group Shaftesbury booked a deeper first-half loss after the pandemic hurt footfall at retail outlets, squeezing rental income.
Pre-tax losses for the six months through March amounted to £338.5 million, compared to year-on-year losses of £287.6 million, and included negative property revaluations of £342.6 million.
Rental income fell 19% to £48.9 million amid occupier support, reduced rent collections and increased vacancy.
EPRA earnings, an underlying measure watched by analysts, slumped 92% to £2.1 million.
Shaftesbury declared an interim dividend of 2.4p per share, compared to no payment year-on-year.
The company said a phased lifting of Covid-19 restrictions was already resulting in a return of confidence and activity as more-normal patterns of life resume. ....

StockMarketWire.com - The FTSE 100 saw a modest decline on Tuesday after trading broadly flat for much of the day as strength in sterling weighed on the overseas earnings dominated index.
By the close it was down 0.3% at 7,029.79. In the US the S&P 500 was also a bit lower, slipping 0..2% to 4,188.64 by 4.30pm UK time.
Industrial software group Aveva rallied 1.6% to £33.28 even as it reported a 63% slump in annual profit after the pandemic hits sales in the first half.
Aveva nevertheless upped its dividend by 1% to 23.5p per share, citing a second-half sales recovery that had limited a full-year fall in revenue to just 1.4%. ....
