Volusia County councilmembers will consider Tuesday whether a 34-year ban on dogs on the vast majority of beaches might be worth revisiting. Dogs have been prohibited on Volusia beaches since 1987, when the county's 47-mile shoreline was consolidated under county control. Allowing animals on the beach would require amending the county's beach code.
