Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who Oregon Health & Science University tapped to conduct an investigation into the campus’ handling of sexual misconduct and discrimination complaints, told the school his hourly rate is $2,295 and his legal partner’s rate is $1,445 an hour.
Holder alerted the school in a March 30 letter, released by OHSU in response to a public records request by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Holder and his firm were hired to investigate the campus’ sexual misconduct responses in the wake of the high-profile harassment lawsuit filed against the school and former anesthesiology resident Dr. Jason Campbell, who became widely known as the “TikTok Doc” for his viral dance videos in hospital scrubs. ....

Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, a partner at the Washington, D.C.-based firm Covington & Burling, will work on the inquiry with former federal prosecutor Nancy Kestenbaum, who has done other investigation into reports of sexual misconduct, harassment and discrimination for other educational institutions, according to OHSU.

While Judge Nathan found no evidence that prosecutors intentionally withheld evidence from lawyers representing an Iranian banker, Ali Sadr Hashemi Nejad, she said they made a “deliberate attempt to obscure” the truth and attempted to “bury” a key document that might have helped the defense.
The mistakes were serious enough that even after winning a conviction, prosecutors dropped all charges against Sadr.
The documents unsealed Monday provide a detailed look at how the case against Sadr began to unravel in the span of a few, turbulent hours last March as the trial was nearing completion.
On a Friday night, a bank record surfaced that the line prosecutor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jane Kim, wanted to introduce as evidence. But she realized she hadn’t yet shared it with Sadr’s attorneys, a potential violation of rules intended to ensure a fair trial. ....
