It comes as hundreds more people were told to self-isolate by the NHS Test and Trace in Dorset. Department for Health and Social Care data shows that, in the BCP Council area, 2,370 people were told to self-isolate after being in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19 in the week to July 14 – the latest available data. This was up from 1,882 the week before. In the Dorset Council area, 1,450 people were told to isolate – up from 1,160 the week before.

Local unsung heroes of the Covid pandemic honoured with new Somerset Medal Dedicated volunteers from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are among some of Somerset’s many unsung Coronavirus heroes who have been named as winners of the first ever Somerset Medal. The Somerset Medal has been launched by Somerset County Council to say a heartfelt thank-you to the ‘best of the best’, with the winners announced on Somerset Day. They include vaccination volunteers, food deliverers, PPE producers, pop-up shop keepers and a whole host of other good Samaritans who all went above and beyond to make sure Somerset kept going during the pandemic.

The Capistrano Unified School District school has two schools in the district with this honor, the other being Ladera Ranch Middle School. California Distinguished Schools are recognized for excellent work in either closing the achievement gap or achieving exceptional student performance, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond stated.
