MIAMI Long before Miami’s Centner Academy ignited a national uproar by telling teachers not to get COVID-19 vaccinations, contrary to all credible scientific advice, the school’s husband-and-wife founders were determined to do things exactly as they pleased, for better or worse.

The email referenced reports.of non-vaccinated people being negatively impacted by interacting with people who have been vaccinated, including the alleged disruption of women s menstrual cycles. Not surprisingly, Leila Centner did not supply any evidence or research to back up such false claims.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) assert that COVID vaccinations are safe and effective after evaluation in clinical trials involving tens of thousands of participants. The CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently lifted their pause on the rollout of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after a safety review determined that the blood clots reported in some women are very rare.

Centner Academy, a private school with campuses in the Design District and Edgewater founded by two wealthy parents, has warned its staff against taking vaccines that prevent COVID-19 and said it would not employ anyone who has taken the vaccine.
Parents of the Pre-K through eighth-grade school received a notice Monday letting them know of a policy in place among teachers and staff that left some parents, teachers and medical experts aghast.
Founder Leila Centner asked employees who have not taken what she terms the “experimental COVID-19 injection” to wait until the end of the school year. She also asked faculty and staff to hold off on taking the injection until there is further research available on how the “experimental drug” impacts individuals who did not receive the vaccine.
