All across the country, fashion design students had one last chance to show off their skills before officially starting their careers, or trying to.

The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts will present Washington University in St. Louis’ 95th Annual Fashion Design Show April 27 in Ridgley Hall, Holmes Lounge. One of the oldest such shows in the nation, the event will feature dozens of models wearing scores of outfits that together explore the intersection of clothing and culture.

KWUR 90.3 Clayton FM, Washington University’s own underground student-run radio station, annually hosts a week of free musical events featuring local and student music, open to all Washington University students. This year’s KWUR week, which began on March 25, featured over a dozen acts, with performances ranging from lively jazz waltzes to hardcore punk screams and instrumental folk.

Learning about plant identification has changed the way I view WashU: I feel the huge fuzzy magnolia buds in the winter between the DUC and Simon Hall, I imagine the corridor of chinkapin oaks that will eventually mature between Graham Chapel and Brookings Quad, and I brag to my friends about the clone of the original Brookings Basswood that I helped plant in a corner of the quad. By teaching about tree identification for our spring blooms, I hope to spread that perspective that has opened my eyes to the vibrant world of plants.
