You know, very cleverly yesterday, jack lou admitted it was more yesterday of budget was more of an opening bid, the start of negotiations. that s why you didn t see every cut that the president might accept. everything that he might be willing to go. because he knows that if this budget even has a chance at passing and let s remember we re still last year s budget didn t get passed. we re in this continuing resolution mode. that being said, they see politically once the republicans put up a budget, then they have to answer for some of these same critiques that they re having to answer for today and then at that time they get an opportunity to find some sort of i wouldn t call it a grand bargain, but it sounds like a sort ofbargain. well, that s an odd thing really. the president has the potential to get universal republican support if he proposed some ....
Lindsay said you were wrong, you mocked and lridiculed him. it ended up you weren t 100% wrong. you were 1,000% wrong. you know what we learned? there are no perfect repubcan candidates running. i would say mitch daniels isn t even close to that sphere. if he runs he ll be one of the strongest republicans despite the vulnerabilities that you cite. the president was vulnerable when he ran and he won. isn t this the arsonist as firing man metaphor? he was one of the key players, one of the most important players in the administration that allowed turned surplus into record deficit. and who better to explain the danger of deficits than the man who ran them up. who better to be an arsonist than a fireman? he carried water for this administration. i won t say he lied about the cost of the iraq war, but he carried rumsfeld and bush s water on it. ....
Me of big ambiguous. when i m done in washington, they ll know what i think. he thinks both sides are being timid on the budget. he said neither side is doing what needs to be done to avoid fiscal calamity. you mentioned governor christie s numbers. we have new numbers on governor andrew cuomo here in new york. approval ratings at 77%. again, he s been doing a lot of what christie has been doing, which is talking tough and taking on saed cows. yeah. and interestingly enough, in this interview, governor christie singled out governor cuomo, a democrat, as one of his soulmates. i asked who else is doing this, and he mentioned andrew cuomo. he also mentioned john kasich in ohio. he mentioned the governor in washington. and the new governor in new mexico. so there are three republicans. but he s giving credit to governor cuomo. maybe chris christie emboldening some people. what about cuomo? ....
He s saying the white house should also come forward and call out the republicans. it s fascinating. the president has ignored for the most part all the recommendations of his own deficit commission. hasn t embraced all of them and hasn t really been specific about which ones he likes and which one he doesn t. he doesn t want to make a commitment. it s true. it s a lack of leadership. if in the end he succeeds, it will be patient leadership and that s what he s counting on. the co-chairman of the task force came out yesterday and criticized the president s budget. do you suspect like mark like the president is just biding his time, waiting for republicans to move first? well, the president is right because the republicans have to put forth their budget. doesn t have to do that for a couple of months. no one is talking about entitlements or addressing the real problem. tax loopholes, that s not on the table. people are saying he s playing politics already, looking at his election ....
