EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - Hours after a storm system moved through the Deep East Texas area, thousands of people are dealing with power outages.
According to the outage map on the Oncor website, the lion’s share of the company’s power outages is in Angelina and Nacogdoches counties, which had 2,190 and 3,365 outages, respectively. As of 6:00 a.m. Monday, Oncor’s outages also include 3 in Anderson County; 4 in Houston County; and 17 in Cherokee County.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Crews are in the process of restoring power to thousands of customers all over Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana after a strong storm system blew through the area Friday night.
The Southwestern Electric Power Company took a hard hit.
“Severe storms moved through the Ark-La-Texas late Friday, causing extensive damage – including downed poles and lines to SWEPCO’s electric system and leaving approximately 19,300 customers without power,” a press release stated. “At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, approximately 9.500 customers were without power, including 1,500 in Louisiana, 4,700 in Arkansas, and 3,400 in Texas.”

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Wednesday morning several Houston County Electric Cooperative customers are out of power due to severe storms passing thru the area.

KIRBYVILLE, Texas (KTRE) - Many East Texans remain without power Tuesday night after last week’s winter storm, but the restoration process has gained momentum from neighboring electric cooperatives coming to aid.
“I mean, I know it’s a lot of work, but it makes you feel good,” Rusk County Electric Senior Serviceman Mark Prior said. “A lot of people have been without lights a long time down there, and it just makes you feel good to get power.”

CROCKETT, Texas (KTRE) - East Texas electric companies are in high gear preparing for frigid conditions forecast for our area.
The Houston County Electric Cooperative serves 15,000 customers in nine counties including Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Houston and Trinity. General Manager Kathi Calvert said their preparations for the predicted winter storm started days ago.
“We are making sure all of trucks are stocked,” Calvert said. “All the equipment is running. We have fuel for chainsaws and saws. Linemen are getting prepared, and we have contractors on standby if there is a major outage.”
