After eight years of spearheading programs and services for William & Mary’s more than 100,000 alumni, creating signature initiatives that raise the university’s profile and overseeing the extensive renovation and expansion of the Alumni House, Marilyn Ward Midyette ’75 is set to retire Aug. 1 as the leader of the university’s alumni engagement efforts and the W&M Alumni Association.

Data, water, democracy, careers: Those will be the four areas of focus as William & Mary embarks on a new strategic direction over the next five years, President Katherine A. Rowe stated Friday during the university’s 2022 Charter Day ceremony.

Four 2022 Charter Day Award winners will be celebrated during the Feb. 11 Charter Day ceremony at Kaplan Arena.

Charter Day, which celebrates the university’s founding by royal charter in 1693, will take place Feb. 11 in Kaplan Arena.

Glenn Youngkin, Virginia’s governor-elect, will speak at William & Mary’s 2022 Charter Day ceremony, slated for Feb. 11 in Kaplan Arena.
