CSPAN2 Key Capitol Hill Hearings January 5, 2015

Donald ritie, thank you for ing with us on america history. The senate jority leader i not a position in the constitution. How did the job evolve . That puzzles a lot of people. We once had a former speaker of the house contact us and say i was the president pro perso ray in the pro tempore but not the majority leader because e speakers of e usee the nate majority leader as their equivalent, their functional equivalent on the senate side. Ofourse the speaker of the house is written ito the constution, and the president pro tempore is. But no mention of a majority leader or minority leader and thats because the constitutn did n ancipatepolitical parts. I think they thoughat it was probably gng to happen, but they didnwant to encoure litica parties. Theyake no provision for it. And for most ofthe history of thesenate we had no jority lead. Om 1789 until 1913 there was noajit leader ofth senate. There re chairmen committees who wld sort of take care of things on the floor, there were th a ....

Evidence right now. We want you to know it will make a difference. This guy will do it again, we will do something then, perhaps your testimony will matter. Those are hard discussions, what we found in the survey, what makes the biggest difference, they still feel they can trust the system, is that someone is listening and handling their case seriously. Sometimes, when people look at it, it is all about charging, we know that doesnt always happen, it is also about trust. I wonder if you can address that a bit in terms of that trust. Maybe you, chief and why that is an important piece of this. I dont know if i could say it better. That is a great answer. You can have the best investigation, the best advocacy, you can have the most will be and energized and in pursuit of justice because of lack of willing to prosecute. Because of concerns about win loss records, very candidly put. Then you can run into a greater difficulty in getting more people to come forward. Very much what you said. ....

Destroyed because thats much wider than isil. That is a segment of islamism which is very broad. Isil, the territorial entity can be destroyed. And i hope will. Right now its being destroyed on a severalyear plan at best. I believe the gentleman is right, it could be destroyed by having a policy. That requires making choices. Either we choose assad or we choose turkey. We dont sit on the fence. If we choose turkey, we get a major ground military force on our side. If we choose assad, we get a real military force on the side, not as big as turkey. Either way, isil can be destroyed in a matter of years. Sitting on the fence, and refusing to engage our own forces on the ground, which probably is going to continue, that is true, we cannot destroy isil even as a territorial entity at least for several years, and possibly never. What if they use the several years to gain weapons of mass destruction, which is quite possible. You raise a lot of good points here. Again, i think as long as peopl ....

She is a resource for her on campus. Vestibule is a great word, i think of a hub, having the person who has the knowledge of the systems and can lay out for a survivor what their actions are, is very important. Second round. I think that is a very apt, and articulate discussion of it the way the process can work. Ideally. If the survivor chooses to go to the criminal justice system, but not all survivors may have the decisiveness that this woman evidently d Law Enforcement, they are taking delayed reports, there is no timeframe within which someone has to report, they wont take a report, they will take them. On campus, we have worked with studen studentsed in title nine process, it is true, there is no longer any physical evidence, when a delay has been made. There are other kinds of evidence that can still be collected. I would say, sort of cautiously, yet yes, i recommend Law ....
