Department of health and Human Services announced the allocation plan for the drug remdesivir. They are delivering 110 cases to new jersey. Each case has 40 vials of the drug. The department is working with the hospitals on a Distribution Plan that will be equitable and consistent to where the greatest need is. What that says is that even though we locally are doing everything that we can to provide resources to the public, we know that theres so much more that needs to be done. We cant wait for a federal stimulus check in many cases, people who are living paycheck to paycheck and need money to pay their bills. And we know, especially our hairdressers and our nail salons, our barbershops, theyre probably suffering the most. Because if they dont work they dont have any income. People who are frontline workers in a very difficult situation, are very low paid, are mostly people of color. I used to call them and i still consider them the heart and soul of opeiu. These are people, a lot of them who have formerly been homeless and worked themselves up. And then read the paper and see what was in msc south, which was horrible and disgusting. And they had to shut that down. They all want to be tested. And each of them who are working today deserves an incentive pay.
